San Juan Structures has been incorporating green building techniques well before it became the new mantra. We work closely with our clients to determine the environmental, along with the economic performance of all the materials used in the construction of their residence. San Juan Structures is also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.
We believe our log homes are the original green buildings of the Rocky Mountain West. Our log homes are built from local natural standing dead timber "a continual renewable resource." We do not use any kits or factory "handcrafted log homes." Our craftsmen personally select and fit each log one by one. We would be glad to show you the difference. The timbers that we use in our timber framed homes are all recycled.
We pre-build most of our log homes at our yard north of Durango, Colorado in the Animas Valley, but if there is sufficient space we can build on your site as well.
It is said that there are over 60,000 decisions to be made on the construction of a typical custom home. A lot of these questions are decided during the design phase, but if you've built before, or have friends who have, you understand that there are numerous decisions to be made even after the design is complete. We will work closely with you to have a specification for everything, before the first shovel of dirt is turned.
All custom homes tend to evolve during construction, as they should with a creative builder, but by having initial specifications determined prior to construction, the projects are allowed to run at a smooth and steady pace. This creates a more professional and pleasant work-site for all.
San Juan Structures will keep you informed of the work progress through the use of digital photography and email for our out of town clients who may be unable to stop by for a visit.
